PGP Desktop License Engine Troubleshooting

New Purchases

1. Each customer will receive an email with a license number.
Upon purchasing PGP Desktop, each customer will receive an email with a license number. The license number is a 28-character alphanumeric string that looks similar to this:

A1B2C-3D4E5-F6G7H-8I9J0-K1L2M3-N4O

2. Launch the software for the first time and enter the license number in the License Authorization window that appears.

Upgrading from a PGP Trial License

Customers upgrading from PGP Trial licenses should follow these steps:

  • Open the License Authorization window by finding the license menu item, which is on the PGP tray menu on Windows and under the PGP application menu on Mac OS X.
  • In the “License Information” area, enter your Name and Organization.
  • Once you have entered the correct information, use the Authorize button in the License Authorization window to complete your authorization.

Note: If you have already used your license number for authorization in the past, you must enter your name and organization precisely the way you did the first time, as described in the email you received containing your license number. If you do not enter the information exactly as you did previously, it is likely that you will be unable to authorize again successfully.

Note: If you are unable to authorize your software successfully and you have ruled out problems with your network connection, you may submit a manual authorization request to PGP Customer Service.
